Once your shop is live and your website is getting traffic & sales, it's down to you to manage your products.
The way we build your shop will dictate how easy this is and what benefits it will have for you in Google.
The Auto Update option is the most popular with our clients, as it's not only the cheapest to build, but it allows us to create an entire eCommerce shop with just a single page of the website needed for each product category. The shop is embedded onto the website which means every update made in Shoprocket, automatically updates the website in real time. This is brilliant for managing and updating, but not great for SEO.
Google wants each product to have it's own page and URL which can be indexed and linked to from their search engines. If SEO is important to your eCommerce site, then the SEO Optimised embed option is needed. This requires a page on your website for every product and when new products are added in Shoprocket, a new page will need to be created and integrated for that product to go live.
When selecting variations on a product (e.g. Colour), the "Auto Update" embed option can also dynamically update which image is displayed as the main image, but the "SEO Optimised" option doesn't.
